How many times has this given you useful information that you can use to empower yourself & make changes on how you proceed on your path to parenthood?
Many times tests are just a snap-shot in time or don't give us the whole picture we need to understand what's really going on.
Ovulation tests tell you whether or not you had an LH surge. Great to know you're fertility window, but does not confirm successful ovulation.
Progesterone needs to be elevated for multiple days after ovulation to confirm ovulation has happened successfully.
Conventional wisdom says that your progesterone levels should be at their highest on day 21 of your cycle. Therefore your doctor brings you in for a blood draw on that one & only day of your cycle.
But the fact of the matter is, day 21 may not be your highest day to test & one day doesn't give you sufficient data to know what's truly going on.

This should be the first thing you learn as a young woman, but unfortunately for many of us, it wasn't.
Understanding your flow & figuring out if you are having a healthy cycle.
Your flow starts when conception has not occurred Your estrogen & progesterone levels return down to their baseline & triggers the shedding of the superficial layers of your uterine lining, along with chemicals called prostaglandins.
It is these chemicals that are the culprits making you feel like sh*t & promote inflammation.
Knowing this basic physiology can help you understand the WHY things are happening & what you can do to improve your flow.
The popular belief is that your flow is supposed to be the most painful thing every month & put you down for days!
THIS IS NOT TRUE & it doesn't have to be this way.
You may be having painful periods and major PMS symptoms, because of all the inflammation already going on in your body.
There are about 101 things you can do to improve your fertility health, in saying that here's so much to do, it can be overwhelming and you might find yourself doing nothing.
So let's start with WATER.
You know you need to drink more of it - that's not what I want to talk about today.
It's the quality of your water that's of the utmost importance & its hands down one of the easiest things you can do to improve your fertility health.
If you're drinking a lot of water & it’s full of fluoride, pharmaceuticals, perfluorinated chemicals, heavy metals, volatile organic chemicals, chloramines, pharmaceuticals or pesticides it’s not doing you much good- right!?!
We do not yet know ALL the health hazards associated with the chemicals put into our water, but I think it's safe to say, we know enough to realize that we shouldn't be drinking a load of water full of chemicals!
Many of these substances are known endocrine disruptors - which in layman's terms means it...
ME: No tomatoes, please.
Waiter: What, you don't like tomatoes?
ME: No. I love tomatoes, but I'm intolerant to them.
Waiter: That's not a thing. Tomatoes are healthy, you can't be intolerant.
ME: Well, you tell that to the eight years of infertility I dealt with, my guts & my and my poor husband who spent 14 years wondering what the hell was leaking from my bottom
This is a real conversation I've had in my head every time someone questions me about not eating tomatoes.
One thing you might find out when you're trying to figure out what foods work & don't work for you is the social unacceptance of not eating certain foods. So much so, that even when you know something isn't good for you, you eat it anyway to avoid snide remarks or invasive questions.
